I don’t see any other connection to Jade than the camera and the short hair.  Your color pallet is totally different from the character, the clothes don’t fit the style of the game, Jade comes across as more of a tomboy in the game.  The clothes are not couture at all.  The coat dress is cute, but looks very matronly, and does not fit the character or game you state was your influence.  The construction is ok, but there seem to be issues with the seams under the arms, and it needs more pressing. The black lace trim is overused, and do not rely so heavily on premade trims to finish your fashions.  The hat is totally tragic and very old fashioned and pulls the entire fashion into the grandmother area.

I can see the inspiration, especially in the use of color, but the garment lacks the edginess of the original Jade character.  This is particularly evident in the crocheted hat, which strikes an incongruous note.  The coat is well made and it is cute with the leggings, but this is a more romantic interpretation of a young, hip character.

Cute dress, but not being a gaming person is no excuse for such a boring design.  There is the wonderful thing on the internet called GOOGLE!  You can easily find pictures of characters from all sorts of video games with a simple search.  The dress is mall clothes, not couture.  You do get points for going with a zipper as a lot of beginners and even more experienced designers seem to be afraid of zippers. The jewelry is cute but simple, and the rest of the accessories are so casual they do nothing to help elevate such a simple and everyday dress.  The painting is cute but not enough of the gaming inspiration to make a huge impact.  Not everything has to be literal.  Do your research and think outside the box.  You seem willing to try new things with painting, changing patterns and making the jewels, so keep that up!  I think you can push yourself to much better results!

This is a good start, but I think that the designer could have pushed it a bit further.  The dress is quite literal.  It is in the 80s style, which is appropriate to the era of the video game.  I do like the jewelry and the bag.  I wonder if perhaps the Pac Man motifs on the dress might have looked better done in beading for a more couture look.  The painting looks a little bit arts and crafts.

This is total costume.  If I had searched the internet for a Link costume something very similar would have come up.  The construction is not neat, seams are fraying, and the outer shell is not finished at all.  Your belts are very poorly constructed and nothing is lined.  Your color pallet is not the same as the game and the darker green does not add to the design at all.  It is a cute costume, but is not couture at all.

I am not overly impressed with the quality of construction on this garment.  Seams are not finished or pressed and there is no hem.  Even in the beginner category, this is unacceptable.  The trim around the neckline is heavy for the scale of the garment.

I like the two dresses and coat, and I like them together.  I do feel that you crossed the line from couture to costume, but this would be a wonderful costume for a costume ball.  I would have liked the black over dress to have a few more keyholes that showed a bit more the wonderful flame fabric through. The gold coat adds to the dresses and I like the flame cut ends, but I wish you could have figured out a way to use that fabric and decrease the bulk in the seams. The construction is good, but the main dress could have been lined.  Your accessories are good, I like the belt, but the headpiece totally pushes the look into costume.  Good job, the line between couture and costume is a hard line to walk, this time you crossed into costume.  I am looking forward to seeing more from you.

The designer should turn garments completely inside out.  Although the garments look very well made I cannot judge them accurately without seeing the entire inside (therefore I have given a lower score than I would if I could have seen the whole inside of the garment).  That being said, I think this is a wonderful interpretation of the challenge.  And thank you very much for showing the challenge inspiration. That was a big help.  The headdress gives a high couture, creepy factor that works surprisingly well.    The use of colors and textures is very good.

I would not know at first look this was inspired by Ms. Pacman.  Ms. Pacman’s colors were yellow and black with red accessories.  I don’t get the mouth shape v in the bodice, it would have been much better if reflected as a black v cut pleat in the front of the skirt.  While the construction looks good, the bodice looks really overworked and forced. The purse would be better in a color other than black. It is a cute dress but not couture.  I am enjoying seeing your pattern making skills.  You are weak on accessories, as jewelry would have added to this design.

This is an adorable, well made little dress.  That being said, my major complaint is that the designer could have pushed it much further.  The little clutch and the color scheme are really the only nod to Ms. Pacman.  If the pearl buttons had created a pattern similar to the video game it might have made the inspiration more evident.  Styling is a little on the “cute” side with the pink hair bow.

I like this fashion, and the dress does have a couture feel.  I like the accessories as well, the hands painted tights are nice, and the sculpted shoulder pieces reflect the game as does the hat.  The shoes are fantastic. What throws me off is the color pallet.  That purple fabric doesn’t really feel dark enough or dirty enough for Silent Hill.  I have played Silent Hill and it is a dark, rusty, dirty, ashy environment and that purple is just too bright for my experience in the game. You are pushing very close to the line of costume; I think the shoulder pieces could have been smaller and still being as impactful. The construction is good, but lining would have been nice.  Overall a good job.

This is a creepy and clever interpretation of the video game Silent Hill.  I am only familiar with the movie, but this outfit captures the horror and surreal qualities of the film.  The hand painting works well in this instance.  The fabric of the dress does resemble rusted metal and the tights make the legs appear flayed of skin, exposing muscle and bone beneath.   I would almost be tempted to make the skirt a bit shorter to make the affect of those tights more dramatic. The gargoyle shoulder pads with the chain is a clever touch.  The only accessory that doesn’t work for me is the purse, which is a completely normal little clutch and is somehow incongruous with the menacing quality of the garment.  The shoes are a little over the top, but they fit in with the theme.

I have played Little Big Planet with my nephews, it is a bright and playful and full of inspiration.  This fashion reads more like a Disney Princess than anything from LBP.  I would expect any fashion inspired by LBP to have a zipper!  Come on that is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name of the game is Sackboy with the big zipper down his chest!  Construction looks ok, but I don’t see any closures?  How is this kept on the doll, or is it sewn on the doll?  Sewn on fashions do not meet the standards of this contest, so please show your closures in your next pictures.  The seahorse headpiece does not read well in the dark hair for pictures. This is not couture, but is total costume, and feels more like something from Little Mermaid than Little Big Planet.  I just don’t get it?

This does not reflect Tetris; I see nothing even remotely related to the game Tetris in this fashion.  There is this wonderful thing on the internet called GOOGLE that you can easily search video game images on for inspiration.  The construction is hit and miss, while the bodice is lined, the skirt is poorly finished and messy. The fabric choices are unfortunate, and don’t work to move the fashion forward. The overall fashion is far too busy for the eye and competes with the tattoos on your doll.  I love a tattooed doll, but the design does not complement the doll at all.  Your accessories are too simple and too busy for the fashion.  Was your doll even wearing shoes?  The fashion feels forced without a clear direction, I am not sure what it is, but I do know it is not couture.  I know you can do much better than this.

Tetris is about color and geometry.  This gown has splashes of color, but lacks the geometric crispness that I associate with that game.  The overall effect is jumbled and confusing and I find that the tattoos on the arms of the model add even more confusion to interpreting the ensemble.

I can see the Phillip Tracey influence in your hat, and the hat does say Sonic, that is the only part of the challenge that you got correct.  The dress is simple, pedestrian, mall clothes.  There is nothing couture about the dress and your accessories do nothing to add to the fashion.  Other than the hat your accessories are bland, boring and predictable.  You need to research couture and stay away from such mundane silhouettes.  Jewels are in the world for a reason, they add the extra pizazz that a boring fashion needs to set it off and are the icing on the cake that takes good fashions to impeccable fashions.  I know you can do better.

Bravo on the hat…very well done.  But the dress is just a cute little sundress.  I wish that the designer had pushed him/herself as much in the designing of the dress and the styling, as the hat.  Construction is ok, but the finishing could use improvement.

Nothing against Prudence, but I fear that the designs are going to continue to look cutesy and not couture unless the designer shakes things up a bit and perhaps experiments with an edgier model.

I fear that picking such a juvenile character from Mario Brothers was not a good start.  There is this wonderful thing on the internet called GOOGLE that allows you to search for things such as video game images for inspiration.  The fashion is cute for a basic wrap dress. I see the inspiration of the game character only in the color pallet though. The construction is ok, but your lining is hanging below your back hem on the dress.  The jewelry is nice, but a bit over scale on the large bead on the necklace.  Scale is everything in doll fashion.  I also think the fabric choice while pretty was a bit heavy and left your gathers a bit messy.  Overall it is a cute wrap dress, it is however not couture. You prove that there is a video game out there to inspire everyone. By selecting L.A. Noire you allowed yourself to make a vintage gown that fit the theme and feel of the game.  It is definitely not costume, but not quite couture either.  I do really love your sequin wrap used instead of a fur wrap, which was very creative and actually adds a modern touch to the fashion.  I like the color pallet, but would like to see you use accessories that you make yourself instead of manufactured accessories. I had a real problem with this fashion; I just don’t get it.  I can see the color pallet and the bell bottom jeans as inspired from Mario Brothers, but the red lace looks more like some sort of Spiderman gone stripper mash up.  I do not like the red lace as used with the denim especially in the style used.  I don’t understand how the face mask relates to the game or the fashion.  The construction is wonderful, I feel you had too many ideas and would have really benefitted from some creative editing.  Your bead work is great, but it competes with the amount of pattern in the lace.  Then we have that big fan across the front placket of the jeans, which is not flattering.  The exaggeration of the silhouette reminds me more of something from the TV show “Good Times” than Mario Brothers. Your shoes are wonderful, and I like the red lace bodysuit without the jeans.  If you had left off the jeans and hat and told me this was based on the Spiderman video game this would have gotten much higher marks.

You totally missed the mark on this challenge.  The original Angry Birds dress at least incorporated the face of the bird and you understood what it was saying.  This seems like an easy way out, did you even research any other games on line for inspiration?  GOOGLE is a wonderful tool for finding inspiration!  The style is traditional, predictable and bland.  There is nothing exciting, fresh, or special about this fashion.  The huge bow on the back competes with the huge knot of fabric at the front center.  It is a pretty gown, but not couture, and not what we asked for in the challenge.  I know you can do better, your construction is good, but you need to push yourself to be more creative.  Don’t fall back on your same old bag of tricks. This is a very pretty red gown, but I am a little disappointed that the designer chose the same video game that inspired the challenge in the first place.  The use of red and black alone is not enough, in my opinion, to make this an Angry Birds dress.  I would also like to see the interior of the garment more clearly; the skirt of the dress is obscuring the finishing of the bodice on the dress.

Love is not a strong enough word for this fashion.  You did exactly what we asked of you.  You created couture that speaks of the game that inspired it.  The construction is wonderful and the unique closures are fantastic!  The one thing that I would have loved on this fashion is if you had raised one side of the front of the skirt in a Vivienne Westwood style, which would have given a little edge to that soft romantic skirt.  But as it is, it is still perfection for this challenge.  Your use of hardware as accessories to the gown really shows advanced thinking, and pushes this to high runway couture.  I applaud your entry and look forward to seeing your next creation!  I wish I could give you higher marks than 5’s!

I like the bodice of this ensemble a great deal.  It is a very edgy interpretation of the inspiration.  The metallic hardware of the bodice toughens up the look.  The fluffy skirt seems like a little bit of a throw away and is somewhat incongruous with the streamlined top.

Corset & black shrug are very well done, but theme is not carried through into the skirt. Otherwise very well done

Game influence is very apparent. Couture element is strong and well interpreted. Body suit and bolero are unique and interesting.

You did what we asked and I could clearly see the Hitman game inspiration in your fashion.  It may have been a bit too literal.  I would have liked to see you push your creative edge a bit more.  Your accessories were a bit limited, while I like the case you made I would have liked to have seen more. I liked the use of lace in your suit; it is a very pretty fashion, but a bit typical and expected for the game you used.  I would have liked to see you push yourself and come up with a different silhouette for the hit woman you created.  A very good entry, I would like to see you push yourself a bit further out of the comfort zone.

Love it!  All of it!  The weapon case is genius.  This ensemble really works well.  The styling is excellent.  My only complaint is that it has not strayed far from the inspiration look, but the use of lace inserts makes it more feminine, while retaining the masculine lines of the suit.

Game influence is identifiable. The well fitted bodice and unique use of lace add a couture element. Accessories are very well done.

I can see your game inspiration in your fashion.  I think your design could have benefitted by a bit of creative editing.  It is very busy and there are way too many layers to the dress.  The overall feel of the fashion is very bulky.  The rounded cut to the front of the jacket conflicts with your otherwise square theme in the rest of the fashion. The dress would have been better served without the bottom layer. I am not a fan of the hat, but the shoes are cute. Your construction is a bit off with stiches showing in your side seams and the inside lining looks a bit over worked. I can see you have skills and creativity, but I just didn’t get this one.  I think you can push yourself into creating couture; this is more costume than fashion.

I think this ensemble is very well thought out and clever.  I like the theme of the cubes used throughout.  The motif of the game’s villain on the back shoulder, almost like a tattoo, gives a hint to the inspiration.  I like the flat shoes and the styling of the outfit overall…a bit gamine, a bit edgy.  Overall, a really effective interpretation of the challenge.

You totally missed the mark on this challenge.  The only thing you drew as inspiration was the color pallet of one character.  Dead or Alive is a fighting series, the character you chose La Mariposa is a masked luchadora wrestler. Her name means butterfly in Spanish. I found all that out in under a minute with a quick GOOGLE search! There is nothing in your dress that speaks to the luchadora theme of your character; you didn’t even reference the butterfly of her name in your design.  You created a basic pageant dress and it is a total fail in this challenge.  Your dress is well made and pretty, but there is nothing exceptional about this fashion, it doesn’t push to couture, it doesn’t even strive to meet the challenge requested. You can make pretty clothes, but I really don't see what the point in this entry was.

I am not really feeling the inspiration here.  The original character of La Mariposa looks like a trashy wrestler, so I do understand the designer’s wish to elevate the look.  But the effect is almost too far in the other direction.  The flared mermaid skirt (remember what Rob said last challenge…beware of the mermaid skirt!), the corset and the strange sleeveless cuffs read a bit bordello.

Dress hemline not even & white back shows through on the inside; otherwise nicely done-particularly seaming on corset; however does not really reflect the character’s costume.

Game influence is not easily identified. Garment is very well constructed. Interesting necklace.
