Challenge Two

Wicked has gradually been changing her looks.  Anyone notice she's not green, and has mahvelous Julia Robert's hair?? So when she dropped in carrying these to die for crocheted shoes (by Sherry), I was listening attentively to see what would please her. She would love to have an outfit to match her new shoees; an outfit that would bring her up to the 21st century!  What better choice, I thought, than a business suit?  So, I decided to make one with wide lapels and a stand up collar.  No orange would be used - she wasn't a pumpkin!  So the refined, regal purple mixed with black was chosen to get the job done.  Slim lines would flatter her figure, and frenetic, interesting fabric patterns would suit this newly renovated diva just perfectly!

Challenge Three

My client is a young, rich socialite who wanted something fun to wear to a children's charity event, or perhaps to the Nutcracker.  I decided to take from the fairy world - what could be more fun?  The dress is embellished with tie dyed and manipulated fabric that has gentle bead work and threads running throughout - tiny bird's nests serve as buttons while tiny butterflies flutter around.  The coat has a placket running down the front that echoes the design work on the dress.  She wanted a coat to completely covers the dress to facilitate a reveal.  I hope my photos allow you to see the work done!

Challenge Four

Some may think I'm channeling a French Maid- or even an Emperor's new clothes-type look, but they'd be mistaken!   My goal was to create an outfit for a line I'd call New Wave Victorian.  This would be a Victorian style more appropriate for today that would feature both new materials and old, but wouldn't have that original fuddy duddy look!  This outfit features an immodest, unlined underdress with just enough lace and ribbons to let you know it's Victorian.  It is topped with a corset that covers most of the "strategic" areas; but probably not enough for the more modest!.  The hat and shoes (by Joe Tai)  are made of clear materials non-existent when Victorian-style was originally the rage.  They scream Space Age, and, hopefully, elevate this type of Victorian upward; upward and into a....... New Wave!!!

The doll I used is Jeremy Voss' Kit from the Tonner Company.

Challenge Five

Simple styling is what my actress, Tonner Ava doll, requested, because she wanted to look beautiful and still be able to actually walk the runway.  Her dress is made of black dupioni silk, black crepe, pink sequins, and ribbon.  It's totally not photographing the black w/pink sequins it should look like. It's slim and sexy, and has a kick pleat in the back. This gown is lined in black, but will not stain the doll; it has been prewashed and tested to deter staining.

Challenge Six

To me, Audrey WAS what made any style she put on.  Despite her many movie stills that feature her in black and white, I doubt that she ALWAYS wore those colors.  In fact, many of her other pictures seem to suggest she wore alot of color!   So, I dressed her in something appropriate for lunch, a chance sighting by her fans, or even an afternoon of shopping -- in colors of khaki green, ivory, and purple.

This ensemble features a blouse with matching hat made of polished cotton, and a skirt with matching coat in dupioni silk.  She'd wear sunglasses, of course, and classic pearl jewelry.  And all would be capped off with her beige heels and purse.  Here, I've modeled my outfit on an Integrity Dynamite girl - -but no one could pull the look off like Audrey herself IMHO!

Challenge Seven

I wanted to do a cocktail dress you'd have to go home and change into; not an office to party look.  I just knew I wanted it to be gold or silver, but I wanted to give my client a glamorous, yet sophisticated look befitting her demeanor.  So, I made a simple sheath and did a beaded overlay over one shoulder.  The overlay was enough up top so I chose not to accessorize with jewelry.  Instead the silver glitter shoes and simple silver bag were used to both complete the look and balance the bottom part of the outfit with the top. Natalie Fatale is modeling this outfit.
